In the “better late than never” department, I’ve started contributing some code to the google_analytics plugin. Gotta start somewhere.
- Announcing a New Prototype Support Mailing List - For all your Prototype and script.aculo.us needs.
- Engine Yard takes $15mill Series B Round from NEA, Amazon and Benchmark - Hey, leave some for the rest of us! Seriously, though, that’s a great endorsement for Rails.
I am convinced I am going to will the remaining unfixed bugs on one project to my heirs. Time to buckle down for another pass at them, I guess.
- RSpec-1.1.4 - Another maintenance release with a few new bits of syntactic sugar.
- Google-served JavaScript Libraries - You can now host your Prototype and Scriptaculous bits (among others) on Google’s servers.

It was a productive weekend; I got a major feature shipped for one of the sites I work on. Now back to the regular workweek.
- Pitfalls in RESTful “wizards” - dealing with page-caching fun in Rails.
- Nightly Tester Tools 2.01 - I don’t think I could live on edge Firefox without this. The ability to selectively recover tabs from the previous session is a winner.

- Prototip - Flexible tooltips for Prototype/Scriptaculous.
- Scripteka - Library of extensions for Prototype.
- Living on the edge (of Rails) #18 - It’s been a quiet week.
- Making Compact Forms More Accessible - Easiest way I found to get hints in textareas that vanish when users start typing.
- The Apple “i” - Nice sendup of the prototypical Apple keynote.
- Promise and Peril for Alternative Ruby Impls - Probably more Ruby VM gossip than you really need.
Now that I’m getting settled in, working in the suburbs is much the same as working in the boondocks - except I can actually see when the mail gets delivered.
- Thomas Fuchs consulting - The mind behind script.aculo.us is available for hire. His new personal site will give you some previews of what’s coming in the next version of script.aculo.us, too.
- Better Rails Migrations: Retroactive Migrations - Allows management of merged migrations from multiple developers, as well as dropping or reloading individual migrations without unwinding the entire migration stack.
The bookmarks have piled up a bit again. Time to clean them out to start the week.
- Capistrano 2.0 - The release of a significant new version. I guess I finally have to stop putting off learning about the new features and changes now.
- In-Place Editing: The Summer 2007 Rewrite - And speaking of new features, there’s been a significant bit of code thrash over at script.aculo.us.
- pure class - Discussion of the best way to define a user.reviews.good (or analogous) method, something that I need to do soon for the current app I’m working on.
Looks like I may not starve to death this year after all. That would be welcome evidence that the universe is listening to me.

- Ya Talkin’ Gibberish: - A Rails localization plugin. I’ve had enough run-ins with localization in the past that I fervently hope not to go there in the future, but it’s nice to know people are thinking about it.
